We are excited once again to announce that Women's Lacrosse will be returning to Tahoma in 2011. Since our team banquet a lot has been going on in preparation for next season. We have started an extensive search for a head coach, we have held recruiting camps, and we have met with the board. Needless to say there is a lot to be done for next season. As we prepare our first mission is to find individuals who are interested to play for next years team. So far we have received great feedback, but are still looking for those who would like to play. Due to the logistics of starting a team we will only be fielding a high school team (grades 9 - 12) this season. For those who would like to know more information about the team please e mail us at tahomawomenslacrosse@gmail.com. Or you can contact Mike Dixon, Women's Coordinator for Tahoma Lacrosse Club at 253-376-9796.
As for our younger teams we have every intention of starting 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 teams. But due to the immense amount of work it takes to start a team, these teams will not start until the 2011/2012 season. If you do have an interest in having one of your young women on one of these squads for the 2011/2012 season please send your information to the e mail address above. We will start putting together a list of players who would like to play now and contact you when we are ready to start. Please include your e mail address and phone number so we can get in touch. Don't wait until next season to let us know you want to play, we need to gauge interest now. By adding your name to the list of interested players you are not locked into anything. We would simply like to gauge interest so we can plan for the future.
We anticipate a great year next year. In the past there have been players who have been concerned whether we would be able to field a team. Please note that we will DEFINITELY play next year. We are very close to finding our head coach. The coaches we are interviewing all have women's lacrosse experience and are great coaches. In addition we have assistant coaches who have already volunteered for next season. All in all we have 5 coaches ready to assist.
On the Team side Becky Nelson has stepped up to be the Team Mom and Assistant Women's Coordinator. This year will be all about our parents and volunteers so parents be ready Becky will most likely contact you for help. You never know you may have fun! Sadie Nelson has been named the Player's Representative. She will be the players liaison with the board to notify us of any issues we can help with. Tahoma Women's Lacrosse looks forward to giving women a safe, challenging and enriching atmosphere enhance their game. Our primary goal is to help our players grow as leaders of their team, families and in our community. We want them to be more than just a team. But most of all we want to have fun.
This years theme for our lady bears is back in black in 2011. They have adopted the moniker the blackskirts after the blackshirts or all blacks of the New Zealand Rugby team. We will soon have T-shirts celebrating the return of the team. Pricing and pictures will be added to the website at a later date. All proceeds will go directly to Tahoma Lacrosse. Get one today they are really cool! If you have even had a thought of playing lacrosse shoot us an e mail we would love to have you. No equipment or experience is needed. We just ask you bring a positive attitude and a willingness to give it your all. Players have been meeting already to throw the ball around and veteran players will begin to hold captains sessions soon for those who would like to try the game.
Remember there is no experience needed, all you need is desire! We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Integrity, honor, and team that is Tahoma Blackskirt lacrosse! GO BEARS! Hope to see you back in black in 2011!
Sincerely,
